School Performance

Statutory assessment at primary school is about measuring school performance, holding schools to account for the work they do with their pupils and identifying where pupils require more support.

Children are assessed at the end of Foundation Stage (Reception) using the EYFS statutory assessment framework and the EYFS profile.

At the end of Year 1 the children are assessed using the Phonics Screening Check. This is used to assess whether the children are on track with their phonics learning.

At the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2) the children are assessed in the core subjects of Reading, Writing and Mathematics.

An online multiplication tables check was introduced in the academic year 2019-2020. This check takes place in Year 4 and all children are expected to be able to recall their times tables up to 12 x 12.

At the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) the tests are more formal and school results are published in national performance tables. This allows for comparison with other schools and are commonly known as league tables. Tests are taken in Reading, Mathematics and Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar (SPAG). This information is shared with parents at the end of Year 6.
