Online Safety
At Bankwood we promote the use of technology and understand the role it plays in education, business and social interaction.
There are many advantages to using technology, however we also recognise that the digital world presents numerous online risks. It is our responsibility to educate children and families about the risks, how to behave responsibly online and where to go for support and guidance.
How we teach online safety
Online safety messages are promoted throughout the year in our Monday assemblies and weekly PSHE lessons. We also liaise with professionals and agencies to help educate our pupils, including community police officers and the NSPCC.
We promote whole school initiatives such as internet safety day and anti bullying week which give children further opportunities to discuss the dangers they face.
Finally, our pastoral team provides bespoke online safety interventions for pupils who require more support and guidance.
Support and guidance for parents
Here are some links to websites that provide support and tips for parents. If you would like to discuss any online safety issues further, including how to best support your child, please feel free to contact us in school and we’d be glad to help.
